Chandni Chowk To China MOVIE story

Sidhu (Akshay Kumar) is a lowly vegetable cutter at a roadside food stall in the Chandni Chowk section of Delhi. He longs to escape his dreary existence and looks for shortcuts with astrologers, tarot card readers, and fake fakirs, refusing to believe in himself despite his foster father Dada's (Mithun Chakravorty) best efforts. His redeeming moment arrives when two strangers from China claim him as a reincarnation of a war hero in the past and take him to China. Sidhu now dreams of wine, women and a princely existence in foreign lands. Thanks to the devious translator, a conman by the name Chopstick (Ranvir Shorey), little does he know that he is being taken to the promised land to rid the Chinese village of the vicious smuggler Hojo (Gordon Liu).

Sidhu blissfully sets forth to China with Chopstick. Along the way he meets Sakhi (Deepika Padukone), the Indian-Chinese spokesmodel known as Ms. Tele Shoppers Media, or Ms. TSM, who has embarked on a journey to the land of her birth and her presumed-dead father and twin sister Suzy. Suzy, also known as the femme fatale Meow Meow (also played by Padukone) works for Hojo, not knowing Hojo tried to kill her father. Sidhu, through a series of lucky coincidences, initially manages to sidestep being beaten by Hojo's men, but Hojo eventually catches up with him and exposes him as the buffoon he really is. Hojo kills Dada, and a disgraced Sidhu, left for dead himself, vows revenge. He encounters an amnesiac vagrant who turns out to be former Police Chief Chiang, the father of Sakhi and Suzy. Chiang recovers his memory, with his Kung Fu skills still intact. He takes Sidhu on as his apprentice, and after months of training, Sidhu sets off to defeat Hojo, free the village, reunite the sisters, and win Sakhi's love.

Director K.V Anand briefed about the title in the press meet. He said that 'Ayan' means outstanding or excellence. The word is there in at least five languages including Tamil, informed the director. It can also mean, said the director, the power from sun rays. “So I think Suriya is apt for the title role.”

Music director Harris Jeyaraj, who is doing his first movie with AVM, informed that he spent 10 days in Mauritius along with the director to compose songs for the film.

Vairamuthu, who writes the lyrics for all the songs, told that 'Ayan' in Tamil denotes the four headed God Brahma. He also showered praise on AVM, which stays on top for so many years. He also quoted a couple of lines from a song penned by him for the movie and attributed the lines to Suriya and AVM.

Suriya recalled his association with the seasoned production company. He also said that the whole unit has understood the responsibility of working on a film for AVM, which produced the blockbuster 'Sivaji'. “I will give my 100 % to ensure the success of this movie”, declared the actor. He also said a few words on the relationship between him and Harris, who has scored music for three of his films 'Khakka Khakka', 'Ghajani' and 'Vaaranum Aayiram'.

The movie, which will go to floors by May, is scheduled to be shot in Malaysia and South Africa. Many of its portions will be shot in Chennai as well.

A R Rahman has become the first Indian to win the prestigious Golden Globe Award. He won for the Best Original Music Score for the movie Slumdog Millionaire . The movie has also won the Best Screenplay and Best Director awards.

The song Jai Ho, penned by lyricist Gulzar, has won for Best Original Music Score.

The film, which has strong Indian connections has emerged as hot favourite at the Globe, which set the countdown for next month's Academy awards.

The film depicts the story of a Mumbai underdog's rags-to-riches run and earned three other
nominations -- Best Picture-Drama, Best Director for Boyle and Best Screenplay for Simon Beaufoy.

Beaufoy has won the award.

'Slumdog' is based on a novel by Indian diplomat Vikash Swarup and stars Bollywood actors Anil Kapoor and Irrfan Khan in lead among others.

The film has been shot at various locations in Mumbai including railway station Victoria Terminus, which was a targetted by terrorists on November 26, last year.

Boyle's feel-good film depicts the moving story of a slumdweller Jamaal, who goes on to win USD 20 million on Indian reality show 'Who Wants to Be A Millionaire?' in a bid to win his love back.

The film is facing a stiff competition from Brad Pitt's drama 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,' but if the pundits are to be believed Pitt's film could be pipped for Best Drama by 'Slumdog,' which has gained considerable momentum after sweeping the US Critics Choice Awards this week.

Two days after the startling disclosure of a massive corporate fraud at Satyam Computer, the Hyderabad police are likely to swing into action today and may arrest Ramalinga Raju, who has resigned from the position of chairman of the company.The action by the law enforcement authorities in Hyderabad is likely to be suo motu as it has not received any formal complaint so far, the police sources said.The authorities have been witnessing significant pressure over the issue and this might be the reason for their expected move towards arresting Raju, the sources said.On Wednesday, Ramalinga Raju admitted major financial irregularities to the tune of about Rs 7,800 crore at the company before resigning.Raju also said that he was ready to face the consequences and was subjecting himself to the law of the land.The same day, the company's CEO and MD Rama Raju - brother of Ramalinga Raju - also resigned, while the next day its Chief Financial Officer quit the company.With the company and its 53,000 employees left with an uncertain future, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S R Reddy has written to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh urging the Centre to set up a committee to manage the company's affairs. On Thursday, a team of market regulator SEBI's officials reached Hyderabad in connection with a probe announced a day before on the company and its dealings in stocks.

After the lots of controversies the question now in everyone's mind is where is Satyam computer CEO Ramalinga Raju?.

A team of officials from market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) will arrive in Hyderabad on Thursday to begin a probe amid speculation that police might arrest Raju, but nobody knows his whereabouts.

Raju became incommunicado after sending a letter to the Satyam Board of Directors on Wednesday morning. There was utter confusion after a TV channel reported that he had left either for the US or Dubai.

Raju is believed to have met nobody in the last two days. It is also possible that he might have handed over his letter to company officials before becoming incommunicado.

Sources in Satyam, however, said he was in Hyderabad and might address a press conference later in the day. The reporters who rushed to his house in upmarket Jubliee Hills were told by the security guards that he was attending a meeting in Satyam Infocity at Madhapur.

However, no senior official from Satyam could be reached to confirm this. A large group of reporters waited outside Satyam Infocity till late on Wednesday night but in vain.

The Hyderabad police were also reportedly trying to find the whereabouts of Raju.

The Andhra Pradesh government has ordered a probe by crime branch. Police Commissioner B Prasada Rao on Wednesday said they would act only if a shareholder or regulator lodges a complaint against Raju.

Some police teams were also sent to Satyam offices in the city to find Raju's whereabouts but they were unsuccessful in tracing him as well.

Satyam Computer on Friday announced holding back employees salaries for two months, even as rumours were rife that the company might lay off close to 15,000 workers in the coming days.The offices of Satyam Computer were rife today with the talks about forthcoming pink-slips at the company, which needs over Rs 500 crore every month just to meet its staff costs and has admitted that its cash position was not encouraging.Employees said they have received an e-mail saying the company would hold back salaries for two months and asked staffers to bear with it.However, the company spokesperson declined knowledge of any such e-mail and the issue would be looked into.Even as the company spokesperson denied any layoff plans as of now, the rumours put the estimated job cuts at close to 15,000 by the end of this month.Employees at the company said on condition of anonymity that they were hearing about imminent lay-off of people who were sitting on the bench or were close to completing their assigned projects. With a big questions mark on its cash position and a minimum outgo on salary estimated at Rs 500 crore a month, Satyam may lay off over 10,000 employees next month, says a recruitment firm.

"It is most likely that Satyam will cut 10,000 jobs next month as the company is left with no cash to pay the salaries. The current fiasco is likely to put pressure on salaries, which may reduce by 10 per cent due to the surplus of about 20,000 people in the jobs market," Headhunters India CEO Kris Lakshmikanth said.

Satyam interim CEO Ram Mynampati while admitting that the cash position is not encouraging, the company, however, has taken care of salary for December. Lakshmikanth said till Tuesday evening there were about 7,800 people from Satyam who had posted their resumes on job sites and by Wednesday afternoon, it has gone up to 14,000.

The uncertainty about jobs is killingly painful for the 53,000 employees of Satyam, especially when the industry is going slow on recruitment. Further, possibility of a takeover too looks distant as the accounting fraud done by the company would make it difficult for any firm to evaluate its correct market value, which is compounding the worries of the employees.

IT-BPO union Unites Professionals general secretary Karthik Shekhar said, "In case of any lay off at Satyam, we may take legal action." "We have received over 7,000 hits since the news b reak.

On Wednesday, in one hour we have seen over 800 hits (no of people visiting the site) from Hyderabad. People have been enquiries on how the union can help them," Shekhar added

The ongoing nationwide strike of transporters has jacked up prices of essential commodities in Chandigarh. Prices of pulses, vegetables and fruits have spiraled and with the truckers strike showing no signs of ending soon, it is the common man who will suffer.Chandigarh's largest vegetable market has only small vendors coming in these days and they say that the truckers strike has made prices shoot up, which their customers are not willing to pay. They also blame the big players of hoarding vegetables."Prices of onion, tomato, ginger and peas have doubled up. Onion, we used to get from Nashik, is not coming," said Deshraj, a vendor at the grain market in Chandigarh."Many Aadhtis have made huge stocksof these goods and sell us on higher rates. That is the reason we have to sell it on higher rates to customers," said Ainal, vegetable vendor.

In Chandigarh vegetable prices are spiraling. For instance, price of onion has almost doubled since the truckers strike while ginger is up by a third. But for now, the truck operators are not giving up."We are saving money, so we are not plying our trucks. If government does not agree to our demands, this strike will last more than 15 days or even more," said Ram Lal, a truck operator.If the strike drags on for that long, vegetables may be out of reach for the common man

Chairman of Satyam Computer Ramalinga Raju has resigned from the company’s board. In a shocking disclosure, he has revealed some financial irregularities in the company, including an inflated cash balance of Rs 5,040 crore.

In reaction to Raju’s revelations, the stock

was hammered by investors and it is down over 60 per cent.

Raju said that he feared takeover due to poor finance

performance. Coming clean on financial irregularities, he said that the company had Rs 1,230 crore worth of understated liability as of September 30.

Raju also revealed that he tried to fill fictitious assets with Maytas deal.

He said that the company carries inflated cash balance of Rs 5,040 crore. He also reported of Rs 588 crore artificial cash in Satyam’s books.

Raju said that every attempt to eliminate the gap failed. On Raju’s disclosure, Sebi chief said the issue has serious implications and the regulator will take coordinated action.

His decision was conveyed to the company’s board members. The company was supposed to hold a board meeting this Saturday. I hope u like get some information from this post

Director Bala's 'Naan Kadavul' is complete and all works are on to ensure the early release of the movie. Starring Arya and Pooja in the lead role, the movie was shot in Kasi, Kanchipuram and Periyakulam. Sources say Bala has shot two endings for the film.

The film is about a father, who for spiritual and astrological amends drives his son away from home. The boy leaves Tamilnadu and takes refuge in Kasi. He (Arya) grows up in the midst of 'Saadhus' and 'Sanyasins' and become one with matted hair and unkempt looks. Meanwhile, realizing his folly, the father goes in search of his son to Varanasi. Shocked to see his son in such a state, he decides to bring his back to his home town. His encounters in Tamilnadu and turn of events after he leaves to Varanasi forms the story.

Sources close to the director reveal that the director has shot two climaxes for the film. The originally planned one has the heroine giving up her life and the male protagonist literally 'eating' her flesh. However amidst doubts whether such an ending would go down well the Tamil audience, Bala has reportedly shot another climax and kept it ready.

Mumbai, Jan 2 (IANS) Now that the producers of "Ghajini" have claimed to make profits of more than Rs.1 billion in the first five days of its release, it's time to move the film's success to another level.

A PC game, named Ghajini The Game, featuring Aamir Khan, is ready to hit the market this week.

Earlier the video game was scheduled to hit the market a month before the "Ghajini" release.

"But we wanted to polish it up more, and use it as a USP after the film's release when audiences are really interested in the chase aspect of the plot that manoeuvres the game," says "Ghajini" producer Madhu Mantena.

Mantena said: "It's as slick as any cat-and-mouse PC Game with a computerised Aamir Khan looking like a replica of what he did in 'Ghajini' (same hairstyle included) chasing the villains. Basically the game borrows the 'Ghajini' plot from the time Aamir's character is hit on the head to the time he catches and kills the first villain."

Other games in the series will carry the chase further.

"The idea is to take the success of 'Ghajini' further. And that's why the player has to get Ghajini The Game right in 15 minutes. Or he has to start again. That's the time-span for which our hero regains his memory, remember?" Mantena said.

The music part of S J Suryah's films come across as very special. Be it movies directed by him or films that feature him in the lead role.

S J Suryah has tuned singer with this song which has been penned by Na Muthukumar. It is an interesting number. Just as the listener starts to feel that the song would settle down at one pace, it picks up momentum all of a sudden. Flutes and Guitars have been used well by Vinay. Suryah has sung a catchy beginning verse in the musical album.

This song is probably the pick of the album. It seems to be a titillating song and has been rendered in an unusual way by Naresh Iyer and Sri Lekha. A duet, the song features guitars, drums and vocals combined with good rhythm. Ilayakambnan's lyrics come to life with music.

Obviously the title song, the number has been penned by Viveka and throws some light of the story the movie narrates emphasizing on the travails the hero would be undergoing. 'Guru En Aalu' will mark KRG's 49th production - the producer returns to filmmaking after a five-year hiatus.

Says Selvah: 'It's a light-hearted comedy. Guru (Madhavan) is a young ambitious man who will do anything to keep his boss Krishna (Abbas) happy. Guru aspires to start his own advertising agency as promised by his boss and everything goes awry till he meets and falls in love with a beautiful girl.

His boss also lays his eyes on the same girl, a model named Seema (Mamtha) and desires to add her to his list of mistresses.

Seema, a middle-class hostelite, has dreams of making it to the top of the glamorous world of fashion. While Guru begins to love Seema, she naively gets taken in by Krishna's smooth talk and is drawn towards him.

'Guru's dilemma is that he has to keep his boss happy to fulfill his ambition and yet he is aware that his beloved is being conned into a false relationship', Selvah says.

Vivek, M S Baskar, Manobala, Mayilsamy are also in the cast. Music is by Srikanth Deva while cinematography is by U K Senthil Kumar. The other credits are Siva Yadav (art), Thalapathy Dinesh (stunts) and V T Vijayan (editing).

Says Selvah, ' When I informed Shahrukh that I would be doing his 'Yes Boss' in Tamil, he immediately suggested Madhavan's name for the lead role. Madhavan too was eager to work in the project. Mamta plays the role enacted by Madhuri Dixit'.

Madhavan is upbeat about the movie. He says, 'I had seen 'Yes Boss' several times. It has emotions, romance and humor in it. Selvah is a crafty director, who can do justice to the script'

The Cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus) is one of the first animals I remember learning about when I was a child. You remember, don't you?...the TALL Giraffe...the BIG Elephant...the FIERCE Lion...and the FAST Cheetah...it was kindergarten diversity...Africa style.
Of course...none of the other animals ever sued the cheetah for having an unfair speed advantage, but...hey...it was only the seventies.

I remember learning that the Cheetah could run at almost 70mph for short distances...(0 to 45mph in two seconds)...that it's body was shaped more like a Greyhound dog than a cat...and that it was unable to retract its claws. I learned to tell them apart from the other spotted cats by looking for the black stripes on the face. It was my favorite animal when I was about eight years old.

Cheetahs at one time ranged throughout Africa and southwest Asia. Rulers from ancient Sumeria and Egypt trained cheetahs to hunt with. Marco Polo recorded that Kublai Khan kept a thousand Asian cheetahs, (Acinonyx jubatus venaticus) for summer hunts in his native Mongolia. The Mogul emperor Akbar the Great was reported to have nine thousand. The Asian subspecies has now been reduced to an isolated group of around 200 presently living in Iran, and a handful possibly living in northwestern Afghanistan. This is the same area where the now-extinct Caspian Tiger made it's last stand. The last three cheetahs in India were killed in 1951.

That cheetahs exist anywhere is a miracle in itself. About ten to twelve thousand years ago, the species went through a genetic "bottleneck" when, for some unknown reason, at least 99 percent of the entire world population of cheetahs died in a very short time period. Some scientists have even suggested that the population might have gotten as low as one pregnant female. By comparison, there are between 30 and 50 Florida Panthers left and they are so inbred that the cubs are starting to be born with heart defects.

As a result of the population crash, and the subsequent inbreeding, a male cheetah has a sperm count that is 90 percent lower than tigers' and lions'. On top of that, 75 percent of the sperm that IS produced is abnormal. If cheetahs were livestock, they would be classified as infertile.

Modern cheetahs are as genetically identical as lab mice...virtual clones...which is why it is particularly interesting that an aberrant coat pattern could appear. So in 1926, reports that a cheetah with black stripes down it's back, and splotches instead of spots, had been seen in Zimbabwe began speculation that a new, rare breed of cheetah, the "King Cheetah", was stalking the plains of southern Africa. A man with an extremely cool name, Reginald Innes Pocock, was convinced that it was a new species and in 1927 named it Acinonyx rex...but the animal was only to be sighted five more times between then and 1974 when one was finally photographed in South Africa's Kruger National Park.

The first time I ever saw anything about the animal was on a rerun of "Arthur C.Clarke's Mysterious World", where they showed some blurry film footage of one walking through the grass. "The Mysterious World" initially aired in the seventies, and judging by the quality of the picture, I assume that the footage I saw was some of the first ever taken of the animal.

Debate then ensued about whether the king cheetah was a separate species, subspecies, or color phase. It was even suggested that they were leopard-cheetah hybrids when some analysts noticed that the cuticular scale pattern from a king cheetah's hair more closely resembled that of a leopard than that of a normal cheetah.

The question was answered in the early 1980's when king cheetahs were born as a result of a pairing of normal cheetahs at the De Wildt Cheetah Center in South Africa. Since then two additional kings have been wild-caught, but the majority of the world population of king cheetahs (est. <50)>are descendants of the De Wildt cats. There are probably less than ten free-living kings.

The unique coat pattern is now known to be the result of a mutation inherited as a single autosomal recessive allele. So there.

I know...I know... you're thinking..."Gosh...it seems...so...obvious to me now...the answer was right in front of us all along...the "tabby locus"..

Bharatiraaja’s much awaited “Bommalattam” which was in the making for three years has finally hit the screens and for the viewer who has got a little bit of interest left in the movie has got more disappointments than anything at the end of the movie. One wonders how did a director with the caliber he possesses in handling the sentimental rural subject becomes a cropper in choosing such a naive and a stupid subject. Though the director claims that this movie is based on a real-life happening, the viewer fails to understand the logic behind choosing this subject to be made with Nana Patekar in the lead.The movie begins with Director Rana (Nana Patekar) conversing with his new find heroine suggesting to the viewer that this movie might be a take on the sensational casting coup prevalent in the film industry. The screenplay also moves towards that direction which makes one suspect Rana as a womanizer. The movie also has Kirushna (Debutant Rukmani) around whom the movie revolves and Rana is so affectionate and protective towards her. This leads us to a conclusion that Arjun who comes in as a CBI Officer is hell bent on finding the other side of Rana.As the movie rolls on we really wonder if there can be such a cruel or rather an insensitive director towards his producer and his other artistes.

Well if this happens to be an inspiration from a real life incident then we all have to pity the producers who had given their money to such an arrogant director.The startling reality of this movie is that it is a part dubbing and a part straight movie. Most of the scenes are dubbed from hindi while the scenes where the local crowd pullers Comedian Vivek and Manivannan are the straight tamil scenes. This is seen when the lip sync in most of the dialogues goes awry and on closer look we find that the actors converse in hindi and their voices dubbed in tamil.This Multilingual film “Cinemaa” (Hindi) and “Kalidas’ (Telugu) has got pathetic music by Himesh Reshammiya. On the acting front Kajal Aggarwal who made her debut in the superhit “Saroja” has played an inconsequential role so does Bharatiraaja’s yesteryear find Ranjitha as Mrs. Rana. “Action King” Arjun has been wasted in the role of a CBI officer.
On the whole “Bommalattam” is a movie to watch if you want to make a fool of yourself but for others its worth missing.
